The Digg Song – Make me famous, Kevin Rose

March 31, 2006

Alright, I got something brand new to present. I will put it on Digg tomorrow then but allow you guys a first preview of the whole idea behind it.

I finally wrote the first – and only – Digg.com "title song". So if you ever get digged with an article, or something, go ahead and let it out, sing a long.

You can preview the song at:

So, we'll see how famous it really makes me after all. Exciting …

Thanks for joining me here,

calcr.com – Widgets, Gadgets, you name it!

March 30, 2006

Have you ever had a hard time working out bills with Windows Calc? Right, you use Excel, sure. So, do you like entering formulas into Excel? I don't. Sometimes there are situations where Windows Calc is way to simple and "uncomfortable" and Excel is not worth a double click. What do you do then? Simple, Stefan Linecker did it again and brought us one more nice little widget, gadget, whatever it's called:

http://calcr.com

The interface is perfectly 2.0 styled and offers solid usability. That's all we ask for, right? Well, it does even more, but better check yourself.

What I like most: 100% client-side. Pure (like in Beer) solid JavaScript does all the fancy tricks. Although trends are going towards a more "server-based" technology, it's nice to see some working JavaScript.

If you want to discuss it with Stefan (the author) himself, then, yes, you got the exclusive opportunity to do so on our business network board at:

http://ebusiness.vipedio.com

We'll bring some more e-entrepreneurs on board soon. Just go ahead and ask whatever's on your mind there. We love to hear about your projects.

See you soon, here at Naked IT.

hotDigg finally there!

March 25, 2006

You had all been waiting for it so long, it finally arrived: The ultimate DIGG.com live-news-feed screensaver.

HOTDIGG Version 1.00
http://hotdigg.mittermayr.com/

And because I’ve created it, it’s – once again – totally free. No, don’t worry, no advertisement in the application, no malware, no spyware – just truly free software again. You finally got the chance to see the news scrolling by, either during work, or at the moment when you come back from lunch or something. Oh god, millions of ways to use it. It’s brought to you as a standalone version AND screensaver version. Woohoo.

Now, I’m bragging, sorry. I am just proud of this small gadget. Not only because it’s pretty nice to use but even more because I can’t wait to release the next version of it, which is going to be 3D! Yes, even more fancy stuff is in the factory, so stay tuned for more.

Right now, I think it’s best if you check out the original website for further information:

http://hotdigg.mittermayr.com/

Any comment on that is greatly appreciated. Use it, critize it, let’s make it better!

Internal discussions about further strategies currently at:

WhatIsThatFile.com – SOLD!

March 3, 2006

Finally! Changed owner for $500. Many thanks to all bidders, sorry you didn’t make it. It’s been a great project for me, I’ll shed a few tears, I guess. I just loved it. But one needs to move on, so did I. Please: Stick with your projects. Most of them take a year or two to fully unfold and become a success. But I’ve learned a lot with that nice little project and I guess that’s all I ever wanted.

As a reminder, I would like to point you to an entry a few weeks ago on this blog. I announced the project, I explained all the details one needs to take care of and I just implemented it the way I suggested it. It was work, right – but I am happy to see that the idea itself went off like a small explosion. Remember that guy who bought the domain I suggested initially (Hello you!) ? It’s still not sold, wasted some $ and did nothing with it. If he had followed my guide, he would have turned his $5 into $500 by now. Poor boy. Anyway. This was done as a proof of concept and we all learned a good deal (at least those who participated to some extend or followed  through all the progress). If you have any questions on how to sell such a project or what’s important in running such a “quickie”, you can ask so in our business network board:

http://ebusiness.vipedio.com
I am currently working on another project, but I will keep curtains closed for a few more days, I guess. You’ll love it. It has got everything a Web 2.0 website needs. It’s 100% 2.0Culture so to say. More on that soon.

By the way, I’ve heard some podcast the other day, talking about my 2.0Culture guide and various other things, don’t remember the name of the gang, but the file was around 38mb (interesting to see how my brain picks out valuable information, oh god). Loved it. Although you guys were apparently chatting over Skype and recording that thing, it still was good quality talking. Let’s do a mashup podcast someday soon!

Also declined the job for Skype, was a great offer and I can really recommend everybody to apply for that company. They do a great job there and their HR directors are really nice. I just happen to have other plans ahead this summer, New York is probably waiting and there’s even more to come. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for staying with me, here on Naked IT.

Let me know about your blogs guys, I really love to see what you are all writing and working on. Bring them in and I’ll leave a comment on your blog! Really.
Best,
Roman

WhatIsThatFile.com – FOR SALE !

March 1, 2006

UPDATE: BID is currently standing at $500 (BIN PRICE REACHED!)
http://www.namepros.com/developed-sites-for-sale/172361-whatisthatfile-com-all-about-your-files.html#post1116508

BRING IN YOUR BIDS – SIMPLY SEND AN E-MAIL TO software@mittermayr.com
OR PLACE A COMMENT ON THIS BLOG!

BIDDING CLOSES WITH CONFIRMATION OF THE $500 BIDDER. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE THE SITE – LAST CHANCE! – BIDDING IS CLOSING AT LATEST BY TOMORROW (SATURDAY) AFTERNOON (or as soon as I got the confirmation of the $500 bid – so might only be a couple of hours).

HERE IS THE GENERAL INFORMATION

Alright, the site has been online for a couple of days and had more than 24.300 UNIQUE (I can prove it) visitors since 11th of February. Heck, we just finished Feb. and it took me some 15 days to get that many visitors. Quite good. Haven’t done ANY promotion lately, so daily uniques dropped to 200. Easy to double if you do some minor PR.

Iam looking for a competitive quote on the search engine at www.WhatIsThatFile.com

The database was built by a community and maintained by the administrator. It’s backed by the latest hype must-have: “Ajax” and has got it’s own API as well. Results appear immediately as you type. There are several options for link exchanges as well in order to keep a steady user interaction. I’ve been running the site for a few weeks now and it was digged a while ago.

If you go to Google or MSN and type: “It’s good to feel safe” you are going to see this site as NUMBER ONE search result.

It comes with full database content, all the necessary scripts + guide to set up the website on your own server and what’s best: A COMPLETE ADMINISTRATION SOFTWARE (running on your own computer). I am happy to send some screenshots of the administration software + statistical graphs.

It has got a CLOUD OF FAME feature, which is really popular. See yourself.

The package includes:
All necessary graphics
All necessary scripts and html files
All database content + backups
The administration software (specific for that project)
Guide on how you can setup this thing (takes 15 minutes max!)
The domain name
All rights including full ownership and copyright.

About future possible income:
The site gains a solid daily AdSense income, run a query and you
will see the ads appear between the results. I found a perfect way
of adding Commission Junction ads on the front page, by simply using
text links (clicked by almost everyone!). The site is unique as it’s the
only search engine for files allowing a instant ajax powered result.

It’s listed in several line ups of Web 2.0 application (see the most famous one on listible) and if you run a query on google typing “WhatIsThatFile” you will receive around 20 result pages(!) full of relevant content, all pointing to the site. From blogs, forums and directories.

Alright, that’s a good summary, let’s hear the offers, but please consider: This is not a baby thing, I expect serious offers only.
